SUNTORY MUSEUM of ART collects everyday items that evoke a sense of beauty and run exhibits with creative themes under the concept of "beauty within everyday life." Its collection is varied and includes old Japanese art, such as paintings, ceramics, lacquerware, and textiles, as well as glassware from around the world. The collection totals approximately 3,000 items, including one national treasure, 15 important cultural properties, and 21 important artworks. The museum's interior, which is designed with wood and washi paper, is a comfortable light-filled space that evokes the warmth of nature. The cafe on site serves items from a shop in Kanazawa with a 150-year history, and is a perfect space to relax while savoring lingering emotions from the artwork.
