Be Moved by the Beautiful Scenery! Top 5 Picturesque Spots in Shizuoka Ｗith Views of Mt. Fuji

Located in one corner of Asagiri Plateau, which spreads at the western foot of Mt. Fuji, Lake Tanukiko is a spot that is famous for the inverted view of Mt. Fuji on its water surface. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji from the eastern part of the lake, which measures about 4km around. For about a week on April 20th and August 20th, you can get a glimpse of the so-called Diamond Fuji phenomenon that is created when the morning sun radiates from the peak of the mountain.
The lakeshore is full of attractions every season, including sakura (cherry blossoms) in the spring and momiji (autumn leaves) in autumn. It is also the perfect place for camping, fishing, boating and hiking.

Kumomi Kaigan (Kumomi Beach) is a spot in Izu Peninsula’s Matsuzaki Town, which claims to be the “town with the most beautiful view of Mt. Fuji in the world”. This beach is known as one of the most scenic spots in all of Japan, offering views of rocks and cliffs that have been eroded by the waves. On a clear day, you will be able to marvel at Mt. Fuji right in front of you. The view beyond the Ushitsuki-iwa (Ushitsuki Rocks) – a pair of small and large rocks off the coast of this beach – is especially gorgeous.
This beach is also popular as a diving spot. Note that it transforms into a swimming beach in the summer, so it tends to be crowded during that season. There are also free open-air baths around the area that you can use between June and September.

Osezaki in Numazu City is a cape that protrudes from Suruga Bay, the sea gateway to Shizuoka. This cape is also popular for its superb view that interweaves the sea and Mt. Fuji. The vista from the Mt. Fuji View Spot Nishiura-Enashi at the base of the peninsula is highly recommended. From the viewing deck, you will be able to see the cape and Mt. Fuji across Suruga Bay.
The Byakushin Jurin (a forest of evergreen coniferous trees from the Japanese cypress family that are scattered along the shore) that covers the entire cape is also a must-see. It is a rare forest where the trees naturally grow en masse, and it has been designated as a Natural Monument of Japan.
