【Shiga】Fantastic Views of Cherry Blossoms Discovered by Photographers That Will Bring You to Tears

We introduce fantastic scenery that photographers encountered and were moved by. This time, we focus on two spots in Shiga Prefecture famous for their cherry blossoms - Kaizu Osaki, which is one of the 100 Top Spots for Cherry Blossoms in Japan, and MIHO MUSEUM, where you can enjoy the fusion of art and cherry blossoms. Enjoy the special scenery that can only be seen during cherry blossom season. <The information is from "Visit from Kansai! Amazingly Beautiful Cherry Blossoms (issued February 23, 2018)">

Kaiz Osaki, Where the Surface of the Lake Turns Pink

Kaizu Osaki, which is one of the Eight Picturesque Sights of Lake Biwa, is famous for its 4km long cherry tree tunnel that surrounds the blue lake, framing it in pink. The best time to see the blossoms is around April 10, which is late for the Kansai Region. The combination of Lake Biwa's beautiful site and the cherry blossoms is lovely during the day, but an exquisite sight can be seen at sunrise, when the sky and the lake take on the color of cherry blossoms.

(Photographer's Voice / Rikizo Kitagawa) "The cherry blossom trees at Kaizu Osaki are among the Top 100 Spots for Cherry Blossoms in Japan. I looked for a good spot and angle on the previous day, and began taking pictures as soon as the sun began to rise. If you are going, be sure to use a parking lot and do not park on the streets."

MIHO MUSEUM, Where the Arty Tunnel Becomes a Cherry Blossom Colored Curtain

MIHO MUSEUM in the town of Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, not only has ancient art on display, but the museum structures themselves are works of art. The tunnel, where the inside walls are lit up by the color of the cherry blossoms, has many Yaebeni Shidare weeping cherry trees at its exit, which seem to beckon one into an extraordinary world. It is a dreamy scene that manifests the design concept of the fabled land of Peach Blossom Spring (Togenkyo).

(Photographer's Voice / Hisanori Manabe) "The cherry blossoms in front of the tunnel are reflected inside the tunnel by the sun's rays so the inside is colored the hue of cherry blossoms. It is almost impossible to take a picture without anyone in it, but if you line up first thing in the morning and hurry there, you'll be able to take a photo with not so many people."
