[ Review ] We Tried Starbucks’ Cold Brew Soda and We’re Hooked!
Summer is in full swing now that the rainy season is over. When it's so hot that you're sweating just by standing still, an ice cold drink tends to come to mind. During times like this, we often go to Starbucks in search of a cold drink, and this time, we tried the love-it-or-hate-it Cold Brew Soda that has become the topic of much debate recently.
Iced Coffee x Soda x Lime
Frappuccinos are the iconic, popular drinks sold at Starbucks. Recently, however, the Cold Brew Soda (short: 430 JPY and up), a drink combining iced coffee, sparkling water, and lime, is attracting much attention.
The Cold Brew Soda is cold brew coffee with lime flavoring and sparkling water added to it. It is characterized by a refreshing taste that is not too sweet.
More and more shops are serving iced coffee combined with sparkling water, so it isn't exactly rare, but it's not common either.
While there are many reviews praising the drink, such as "Perfect for the summer!", "Refreshing and tasty!", and "Perfectly refreshing", there are also some scathing reviews, such as "Horrible!" and "Once is more than enough". There are other comments that can be seen as well, such as "It has an interesting flavor" and "I don't know how to describe it".
We tried ordering this much debated Cold Brew Soda at Starbucks the other day.
We caught a glimpse of the staff preparing the drink, and it looked like they were adding a surprisingly large amount of sparkling water. When they finish making it, it just looked like a regular iced coffee, but one sip and the bitter coffee and refreshing lime flavor really hit in a wonderful way! In addition, you can feel the light fizziness of the sparkling water, so it is truly a drink for the summer! It is not too sweet, and it leaves your mouth feeling refreshed.
We personally thought that the Coffee Brew Soda is definitely a drink that you'll want to order again and again. Why not give it a try?
