Five Great Breakfasts in Umeda in Osaka for Those Without Hotel Breakfast Plans

If you are going to eat breakfast out, you'll want to have something that you like. Unfortunately, many restaurants open at lunchtime, so you don't want to waste time looking around. Here are five breakfast places in the Umeda area of Osaka, recommended for those whose hotels don't have breakfast plans.

1. Rainbow

This is the cafe of a hotel in a fabulous location directly connected to Umeda Station on the Hankyu and Midosuji Underground Lines near JR Osaka Station. It has counter seating, convenient for when you are on your own. It offers a light breakfast with bread, as well as a Wa Teishoku (1,700 JPY (incl. tax)), Japanese breakfast set. The recommended item is the American Breakfast (1,944 JPY (incl. tax)). It is a very full breakfast including a vegetable smoothie, meat, egg, vegetables, bread, granola, and fruit and is perfect as a casual but luxurious hotel breakfast.

2. Bechamel Cafe

This is a chic cafe full of female patrons in Whity Umeda, an underground shopping area in Osaka. It is directly connected to a station, so you won't get wet on a rainy day. It has free Wi-Fi and outlets so you can plan your day on your smartphone or tablet while eating breakfast. The recommended menu item is the Atsuyaki Tamago Sandwich Set (680 JPY (excl. tax)). The hot, juicy and extra thick Japanese omelet is outstanding. The cafe has many playful features, such as imprints of the cafe's logo on the bread.

The cafe & brunch menu includes healthy and visually appealing items such as toast sets and pancakes with plenty of fruit that will brighten your morning. The second floor is the takeout counter of popular menu items that is open from 7:00 am. You could purchase breakfast there and eat it in Nakanoshima Park on the Tosabori River across from the cafe.

This is a place where you can enjoy serious coffee in a space with an antique feel that is like a hideaway for adults. There are many fans who, enchanted by its aromatic coffee, have been coming for decades since their student days. In addition to the coffee, the toast and pizza toast, with pizza toppings on a thick slice of bread, are outstanding. Everyone there is relaxed, and it is fun to look at the antique furnishings and paraphernalia such as coffee mills. This is a cafe where you can relax while listening to the soothing BGM.

4. Umeda YC

5. WILLER EXPRESS Cafe

This is a stylish cafe surrounded by greenery in front of the bus station for the discount express bus, WILLER EXPRESS. It serves morning set menus starting from 400 JPY, most of which are light fare of toast, yogurt or granola. On a sunny day, it is nice to sit out on the terrace. If you are riding the bus, you will get 50 JPY off on set menu items and drinks if you show them your confirmation email, so don't forget to present it.
