Flaky Waffle Bars With Plenty of Matcha
kyocafe chacha is a cafe that’s popular for its new style of waffles that are easy to eat. Their flaky waffles are made on site using matcha from Yamamasa Koyamaen, which is a tea seller in Uji, Kyoto, that was established in 1861. Their Geffle Matcha (600 JPY), which combines their waffles with homemade gelato flavored with Kyoto tastes, is also gaining popularity.
Their waffles, made with a batter that has matcha mixed in, is further coated with plenty of matcha powder. They also have Waffle Matcha (400 JPY; back), which is coated with matcha-flavored chocolate. Available to eat in or take out.
The second floor has a counter and serves foods like Cha-soba (1,000 JPY).

Luxurious Sweets on Artisan Plates
Japanese Cafe ＆ Gift Shop TEN is a quiet cafe that you can relax in, despite it being on the busy street leading up to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Their desserts made with Ippodo matcha are delicately arranged on plates crafted by ceramic artists. Their marbled no-bake cheesecake is so pretty that you'll want to preserve it in a photograph.
Their signature no-bake cheesecake is made with Ippodo matcha. It is served with black sesame seeds, which go great with both the cheese and matcha. Available only if you eat in.
If you want to really savor the taste of matcha, go with their terrine, which is packed full of flavor. Finish it up with their matcha ice cream for a fresh aftertaste. Available only if you eat in.
Goods made at their workshop, such as ceramics and cloth bags, are sold near the entrance.

Only in Kyoto! Yatsuhashi Cream Puffs
Kiyomizu Kyoami is famous for its cream puffs made with Japanese cinnamon to give them a flavor reminiscent of Yatsuhashi, which is a Japanese sweet that Kyoto is famous for. These cream puffs – made with uniquely flavored, aromatic puff pastry and filled with a variety of creams, such as matcha-flavored cream – go perfectly with the coffee poured by their baristas. Take note of the beautiful latte art as well!
The Japanese cinnamon-flavored pastry is filled to the brim with a rich, homemade cream. Available to eat in or take out.
This soft serve has the gentle flavor of matcha. The cute, plump appearance is a hit on social media. Available to eat in and take out.

A Coffee Shop With A Great Dessert Selection
SLOW JET COFFEE Kodai-ji is located within the grounds of Kodai-ji Temple. From the terrace, you’ll get fantastic views of everything from the Yasaka Pagoda to Kyoto Tower. Their dessert menu was renewed this spring, and dishes such as their matcha parfait with brown sugar syrup, seasonal parfaits, and homemade coffee jelly are popular.
Their homemade matcha flan and Gyokuro matcha butter cake are voluminous. Their matcha soft serve even has strawberries inside! Available only if you eat in.
