Flowing Somen Noodles in Kyoto’s Backyard, Kibune! A Summer Tradition on a Kawadoko Terrace

Unlike the the noryodoko terraces along the Kamo River, the kawadoko terraces in Kibune are so close to the river you can almost touch the water. They are also much cooler. The flowing somen noodles offered by a ryokan inn famous for its food is a great way to casually enjoy a kawadoko terrace that may seem out of reach and is so popular there are lines even during the week. Experience the Slow Passage of Time Enjoying a Summer Tradition on a Cool Kawadoko Terrace

Deftly capture the noodles flowing down a dedicated lane and enjoy them immediately. The serving is complete when you see pink somen noodles.

The Nagashi Somen (flowing somen noodles) (1,300 JPY) that feel fabulous on the throat consist of two bunches of Miwa somen noodles per person.

The cool breeze coming off Kibune River is a part of the treat. Temperatures in this area are said to be about 10℃ lower than in the city. Go to Kibune to enjoy noodles only available in the summer.

The Kawadoko Ryori (8,600 JPY) set includes approximately 11 items such as colorful dishes served on a tray and simmered dishes. The Kyoto-style cuisine is particularly enjoyable with the sound of the river in the background.
