Koshinetsu
The Koshinetsu region consists of three prefectures: Yamanashi Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, and Niigata Prefecture. It has a bountiful amount of nature and is easily accessible from Tokyo, so it is a popular leisure destination among both Japanese people and foreigners for resorts during the summer and winter activities like skiing during the winter. There are tons of photogenic, picturesque spots around the region: Starting from Mt. Fuji – Japan’s best summit – or the Reverse Mt. Fuji visible from Lake Kawaguchiko at its base, to the mountain range that houses Kamikochi at its center in Nagano Prefecture (also known as the Rooftop of Japan) and including Jigokudani Hot Springs, where you can see monkeys bathing. Definitely come visit at least once!
