Enjoy Holiday Edition Sweets! Four Selected Pastry Shops in Hokkaido
During the holiday season, when the town is dressed up with illuminations, many pastry shops offer limited-time menu items. Here are four shops in Hokkaido that have limited-time sweets, including descriptions of past products.
1. Chocolatier Masále
This is a shop with an array of the finest chocolates made from carefully selected cacao from around the world and other ingredients from Hokkaido. Sweets such as the Parfait Chocolat 2016 (1,200 JPY (excl. tax)), the freshly baked Chocolate Souffle (600 JPY (excl. tax)), and the Fondant Chocolate Plate (600 JPY (excl. tax)) are also available in the on-site cafe.
For Christmas, they offer a variety of entremets (whole cakes) ranging from chocolate to strawberry. Brownies and chocolate cookies with snowflake and Santa hat designs also make their appearance.
2. Yotsuba White Cosy Sapporo Paseo Branch
This is a store run directly by the milk, butter and cheese producer and retailer Yotsuba Milk Products. It is a cafe where you can enjoy sweets made using milk and dairy products from Hokkaido. The quality milk nurtured by the expansive nature of the Tokachi region has a deep, rich flavor that greatly enhances parfaits (starting at 760 JPY (incl. tax)) and pancakes (starting at 880 JPY (incl. tax)).
During the holiday season, a parfait made with a combination of cheese cream and raspberry mousse is available for a limited time. The red and white colors and the decorative candy toppings give this parfait a festive feel.
3. Dessert de ROMAN Romantei Sumikawa Branch
This is a pastry shop with five branches in Sapporo, famous as the originator of Choco Mont Blanc (346 JPY (incl. tax)) made with an abundance of rich and smooth chocolate ganache. This branch in Sumikawa has a cafe with a warm, wood-based interior where you can relax and enjoy the sweets.
There is a wide range of sweets in the shop, starting with seasonal slices of cake. Every Christmas, they sell cakes loved by people of all ages.
4. CAFE Sahabi
This is a cafe in the Susukino area. The popular homemade donuts (starting at 250 JPY) are fried after taking orders, so they are always fresh and piping hot. There is a wide range of donuts on the menu from simple standards such as chocolate and cinnamon to ones decorated with fresh cream and chocolate cream as well as special limited donuts.
For a limited time during the holiday season, you can enjoy cute donuts decorated with lots of fresh cream made to look like Christmas trees.
