Gengorou is a restaurant where you can have highly selected soba and it was introduced in the Michelin Guide Hiroshima. They get buckwheat from a local farm and grind it with the homemade grinder everyday. Then they will make the handmade noodle with an unchanged method since its establishment and bring fresh soba to your table. The dipping sauce with the rich taste of the natural broth of katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) will make the noodle taste even better. The original buckwheat they use is created by the owner together with a local farmer and its flavor is very fresh. With this buckwheat, the owner himself makes the noodle. More over, where he makes the soba is very close from the entrance, so you can sit back and watch the whole process of soba-making right before your eyes! Irakuan is named as Bib Gourmand in Michelin Guide Hiroshima 2013 Special Edition. They take pride in making handmade noodle and offer subtly sweet soba with a rich flavor. Particularly recommended dish is sarashinagonomi (972 JPY (incl. tax)). It comes with a dipping sauce that uses original broth with slightly sweet nuts. Another thing about the restaurant is the interior of the place. With white walls and the warmth of wood, the whole place is very calm and charming. There are paintings hanged on the wall, making it look like an art gallery. Enjoy the delicious soba in a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
The owner of Tatsukichi has been making soba for more than 30 years and uses high quality buckwheat and the flour from Hokaido, Tohoku, and Hiroshima, all chosen by the owner himself.
