【Odaiba】 Madame Tussauds to Hold Special Event for Michael Jackson’s Birthday!
The interactive attraction facility Madame Tussauds Tokyo will hold a nearly month-long event as advanced celebration of the birthday (August 29th) of Michael Jackson, who is still a hugely popular artist worldwide today.
Eight years may have already passed since his death, but the wax figures of Michael Jackson remain popular attractions at all Madame Tussauds museums all around the world. The life-size figure of Michael Jackson that is on display at Madame Tussauds Tokyo was created based on his portrait from 1995. Guests of the museum have loved Michael Jackson’s display since the museum opened in 2013, and based on the survey of museum visitors, he still boasts tremendous popularity today. At the above event that will be held to commemorate his birthday, guests will even be able to take photos next to the wax figure of Michael Jackson.
And for four days during the month-long run of the event (July 15th (Sat.), July 16th (Sun.), August 19th (Sat.) and August 20th (Sun.)), the famous Michael Jackson impersonator MYCOOL-RIO will be holding a special performance at 2:00 – 3:00 pm. There will also be a joint campaign with the “I LOVE MJ SHOP” that has reopened after renovations on May 3rd (Wed.) inside DECKS Tokyo Beach. For a limited time from July 15th (Sat.) to August 31st (Thurs.), items associated with Michael Jackson, along with posters and tapestries that can only be seen here will be put on display, while “I LOVE MJ SHOP” merchandise will also be sold inside Madame Tussauds Tokyo. Further, a limited number of handheld fans with coupons attached to them will be distributed to guests at the 3rd floor deck of DECKS Tokyo Beach during the promotion period.
Michael Jackson is a major global star that stills boast enormous popularity even after eight years since he passed away. Let’s celebrate his birthday by taking photos of his life-size wax figure and enjoying the special performance of the impersonator MYCOOL-RIO!
Access: 2-minute walk from Odaiba-Kaihin Koen Station in the Yurikamome Line, and 5-minute walk from Tokyo Teleport Station in the Rinkai Line
Hours: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm (last entry at 7:00 pm)
Rates: Adult (middle school students and older): 2,300 JPY, Child (elementary school students and younger): 1,700 JPY, Children below 3 years old: Free
