Ameya Yokocho may just be the most famous shopping spot in Ueno, but there are actually many other unique large-scale shopping places in this area that will stimulate your desire to shop. Here are five recommended major shopping spots in Ueno.

1. Matsuzakaya Ueno Branch

Matsuzakaya Ueno Branch is a well-established department store with a classic feel that was built in 1929. The Hoppe Town on the ground and first basement floors is filled with shops selling popular sweets, veteran confectionery stores and other shops, so it is recommended if you are on the lookout for souvenirs. Okachimachi Yoshiike Main Store Building is a shopping spot near Okachimachi Station.
