The Alleys of Umeda are Perfect for Barhopping! 8 Popular Dishes in Ohatsu Tenjin Urasando

The narrow alleys of Ohatsu Tenjin Urasando, just 2 minutes away from Higashi-Umeda Station, are lined with famous restaurants on both sides, and it's always crowded like every day is a festival.

In this famous place full of popular restaurants, new restaurants have continued to open over the past few years to make things even more exciting. Here are some recommended restaurants, mostly new, in the area to check out. Some of them even have airy terrace seats in the narrow alley so you can enjoy the feeling of the Osaka night air on your skin while you enjoy a drink!

Get your fill of beef so carefully chosen they investigate its bloodline!

Mannoya, a yakiniku restaurant in Momodani, opened the Nikuya Manno Ohatsu Tenjin Urasando, a restaurant that only offers meat from a heifer 30-33 months old with a superior lineage. While it's a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant, it has a bar menu, so it's great for your second or third stop of the night.

This 3 Piece Platter includes tenderloin and has a changing price and variety based on the day's offering. (The platter in the front of the photo is 3,240 JPY.)

The chic interior is decked out in black, and there are terrace seats outside. A kitchen staff member, Fumihiro Shimasaki, said, "You can order yakiniku starting from a single piece. That way you can enjoy various types of meat, from uncommon cuts to lean meat and offal."

Living lobsters from Canada!

This popular shrimp bar in the Fukushima and Ura-Namba areas of Osaka also appears here as Ikeebi Bar orb Urasando. Usually they have around 15 types of shrimp that you can enjoy cooked in various ways. They even have living lobster (60 JPY (excl. tax)/10g) sold by weight, in which they take the lobster straight from the tank before cooking for a plump texture!

Their most popular dish is the Live Lobster Acqua Pazza (the one in the front of the photo costs 3,240 JPY for roughly 500g).

The walls are pink to match the shrimp, and there are private rooms available on the 2nd floor. The owner, Hiroshi Joko, said, "We ship in lobsters by air from Canada that are about 400-500g each. We offer 3 different cooking techniques such as using shrimp miso and herb butter."

Pontocho's most famous shop for Kyomotsunabe arrives in Osaka for the first time

This restaurant, Kamehachi, serves Omi beef giblets in a hot pot made with traditional Kyoto-style broth or soup with Kyoto ginjo white miso. While this delicious Kyomotsunabe is the main dish, the Osaka branch has a special kushiyaki (grilled skewers) menu as well. Perfect for a hot pot break!

The famous White Kyomotsunabe (1,380 JPY). Orders start at 2 servings, as in the photo. They also have Red and Shoyu (soy sauce) flavors.

This restaurant is designed after Gion Festival, including an objet d'art that's made to look like a wheel from a festival float. The restaurant owner, Hirokaze Matsuhata, said "We have plenty of toppings for the Kyomotsunabe. We recommend the Kenko Pork Belly (850 JPY) from Uonuma, because the sweetness of the meat melts into the soup."

Kyobashi's original smoked food has made its way to Urasando!

Tekkun CHOI URASAN is a popular restaurant in Kyobashi, and now there's a branch in Ohatsu Tenjin that has an even bigger meat menu. They have a unique style where they grill their carefully in-house smoked products on a hibachi grill, and you can enjoy various meats and seasonal ingredients. They also have a wide liquor menu, including wine.

The Smoked Spare Rib with Grilled Vegetables (1,382 JPY) includes a Japanese-style steak sauce. They also have other smoked dishes like the Smoked Egg Platter (734 JPY).

This space is made to be relaxing and calming. The owner, Keisuke Toma, said, "We change the wood chips and smoking time to match the ingredients and bring out their hidden flavors. It holds well until it's time to eat."

Admire the warm personality of people from the southern islands!

Okinawa SOUL FOOD Jam offers Okinawa dishes featuring the flavors of mom's home cooking Chef Kanejiro, using ingredients like goya (bitter melon) and sponge gourd straight from Okinawa. You need to check out their skillfully made dishes, such as the rare Agu pork steamed in a bamboo steamer!

They have a wide variety of Okinawan dishes, including goya champuru (front of the photo; 918 JPY) made with shima tofu that has a rich soybean flavor, and sea grapes (center of photo; 637 JPY), which have a pleasing texture that feels like they're popping in your mouth.

The objet d'art made with stone and wood is impressive. The owner, Zengi Odo, said "Our Okinawa soba (961 JPY) is known for having delicious dashi stock. Let's have fun enjoying the music of live sanshin (Okinawan traditional instrument) performances!"

Okinawa SOUL FOOD Jam

Enjoy ramen and konamon made with white chicken soup!

Konamon refers to dishes made with flour, and it includes many of Osaka's regional specialties like takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Taishu Sakaba Nagahama is known for its takoyaki and ramen made with white chicken soup. They use a special pressure cooker to stew chicken for a short period of time, making a broth that has no distracting flavors. They're open until 5:00 am, so you can come here as your last stop of the night.

To the right is Clam White Chicken Soup Ramen (842 JPY), Plain Takoyaki in the back and Sauce Takoyaki to the left (both 324 JPY).

It's a homey restaurant decorated with lots of wood. Make sure to check out the 6 seats available on tatami flooring.

Taishu Sakaba Nagahama

Try charcoal-grilled seafood and 50 kinds of shochu!

The popular restaurant Yo, with branches in Horie and Tenman, now includes this branch that focuses on seafood. You can enjoy charcoal-grilled dried fish like high quality blackthroat seaperch, and sekisaba (a type of mackerel) from Oita for a reasonable price. They also have unique dishes, such as oyakodon (chicken and egg on rice) made with meringue.

The dish in the front of the photo is Sekisaba no Hiraki (842 JPY), grilled so it has soft meat and crisp skin, while the dish in the back is Potato Salad with Charcoal Grilled Sekisaba (626 JPY).

It has a gentle atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional home.

Enjoy fresh oysters all year from fishermen around the country

Kakitetsu offers fresh oysters provided by fishermen from all around the country so you can enjoy them year round. They have a wide variety of oyster dishes, including raw oysters (starting at 400 JPY each), steamed oysters, and original dishes. You can enjoy them with carefully selected wine or sake.
