It's often difficult to relax and enjoy a meal with children to look after. Here are 5 family-friendly restaurants and cafes in Okinawa that offer baby beds, allow you to bring in baby foods, and have many more helpful services.

1. Manza Table

This is a creative-cuisine restaurant located near Manzamo, a famous sightseeing location. Here you can enjoy Okinawan dishes like taco rice (taco ingredients served on top of rice) (780 JPY (excl. tax)) and chanpuru (a stir-fried dish with vegetables and tofu) (from 750 JPY (excl. tax)). There is also a wide selection of awamori (Okinawan sake, made with rice and black rice malt). Manza Table also has a private room with a DVD player, as well as regular table seats. DVDs and games for children are available to use for free.

2. Sans Souci

Sans Souci is a stylish cafe, originally a renovated house in a foreigners’ residential area in Kitanakagusuku, a residential area for US army personnel and their families. In this cafe, you can enjoy a fusion of Okinawan and Kyoto cuisine. Selections include oyakodon (chicken and egg on rice) (850 JPY), as well as green tea, brown sugar, and kinako (roasted soybean powder) flavored parfaits (800 JPY each). There is a kids' room where toys, picture books, and a blackboard are available.

3. CAFE SOY LABO

Shima tofu is a traditional Okinawan food, and Cafe Soy Labo is a Shima tofu specialty cafe located in Nishihara-cho, close to Naha. They offer dishes that use various soy ingredients including tofu, okara (tofu pulp), and soy milk. There are dishes like the Soy Labo Lunch (890 JPY), and Soy Milk Noodle Carbonara (890 JPY). There are also delicious drinks and desserts like the Green Soy Smoothie (300 JPY), and Tofu Tiramisu (250 JPY). Soy products can be great for mothers who are breastfeeding and are trying to avoid dairy products. There are private baby care rooms, and a place to take your shoes off and relax.

NIWA CAFE is one of the cafes along Okinawa’s popular cafe street in Ishikawa Akebono, Uruma. This is a very stylish cafe, with homemade tables, chairs of many shapes, and chic cutlery. The most popular dish of this cafe is Croque-Monsieur, with homemade brioche and white sauce (soup, salad and coffee included, 1,100 JPY). Desserts and drinks made with vegetables local to Uruma are also available.

Southern Terrace is a restaurant in the Southern Beach Hotel & Resort Okinawa, located in Itoman-shi, the closest area to Naha Airport. A view of the ocean can be seen beyond the pool from this restaurant. A delicious meal can be enjoyed in an open and bright atmosphere during the day, and a romantic atmosphere surrounded by the stars at night. There are various traditional Okinawan dishes like their matured meat dish and grilled Agu pork. You can also enjoy the seasonal seafood, selected by local fishermen.
