1. TSUDOI guest house

This guesthouse in Unzen Onsen is on the Shimabara Peninsula in southeastern Nagasaki.
Guestrooms consists of mixed-gender and women's only dormitories that have views of the steam coming off of the onsen hot springs on the mountain surface. Meals are not included, but the hot breakfast sandwiches that are available for an extra 500 JPY are highly rated. This is an inn that is located about 20 minutes by bus from Nagasaki Station. It is in a fishing town on the other side of a mountain.
It is in a building that was previously an upscale ryotei restaurant and all of the guestrooms have views of the ocean. There is a dormitory with bunk beds and Japanese-style rooms that can be shared or used as a private room. The inn also offers dinner with locally sourced seafood (850 JPY and up) and breakfast (600 JPY). There is also a cafe bar that serves food made with ingredients grown locally for local consumption. Wi-Fi is free. There are staff who speak English. There are paid-for rental services of bicycles and fishing equipment.

3. Hirado Guesthouse Kotonoha

Hirado Guesthouse Kotonoha is located in Hirado in northern Nagasaki. Hirado is a castle town that was once a vibrant port for trade with the West and is distinguished by the mixture of Japanese and Western elements, such as the castle and Christian churches. It also has a beautiful landscape surrounded by the ocean.
The guestrooms consist of a mixed-gender dormitory. The area allocated to each person is relatively large so you won't feel cramped. Wi-Fi access is free, and there are staff who speak English. It is right in front of a bus terminal, so it is easy to get places.

The Goto Islands consist of more than 140 islands, large and small, to the west of Nagasaki. The islands are famous for the many Christian churches that were built long ago. This is an inn on Fukue Island, which is one of the main islands.
Travelers are welcomed here by friendly staff and a cute house dog. The inn is run by a futon shop, so the beds have their homemade futon mattresses and are wonderful to sleep in. The guestrooms consist of a mixed-gender and women's only dormitory. There is also a bar on site where you can enjoy drinking with locals. There is free Wi-Fi access, and rental bicycles (for a fee). There are staff who speak English.

4. Guesthouse Utojuku

5. Shimayado Goen

This is also an inn on the Goto Islands. It is on Ojika Island, which is one of the northern islands, and is a place where you can relax surrounded by bountiful nature and Japan's natural scenery.
All eight guestrooms are Japanese-style rooms where you sleep on futon mattresses on tatami mats. You can choose either to have meals included or not. There is also a separate guesthouse within walking distance with a mixed-gender dormitory (3,300 JPY (incl. tax) and up). At the izakaya karaoke bar next door, you can enjoy mixing with the locals. Wi-Fi access and rental bicycles are free. There are staff who speak English and Spanish.
