Being unable to find coin lockers or currency exchange places during your trip can be very troublesome. Here are some features in the Kyoto Station area that might come in handy.

Coin Lockers

Since Kyoto Station is an area that gets tourists around the world, there are plenty of coin lockers where you can leave your luggage, but they do get filled early. Here are some places where you can find large coin lockers that are relatively available.
●Places where you can find a large number of coin lockers
The biggest number of coin lockers in the area is out of the JR Kyoto Station west exit. Proceed to the right hand side and the lockers will be on the right. It's an obvious area so they get filled quickly. There's also the lockers outside of JR Kyoto Station underground central exit - these are also to the right, past the toilets, and there are just as many lockers. However, since these are inside the train station, they can only be used from the first train to the last train, so please be careful.
●Recommended coin lockers
It's not inside the station, but if you take the JR Kyoto Station Hachijo east exit and head towards Kyoto Avanti, on the first floor of the Keihan Bus Information Center, there are usually plenty of large coin lockers available.

Luggage Holding Service

For people who think searching for free coin lockers is stressful, consider this. One piece of luggage can be held here from 1-4 days for 420 JPY, and 5-15 days for 840 JPY. They're open from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. However, 15 days is the maximum that the luggage can be held. Also, they won't accept huge pieces of luggage or expensive items.
If you take the escalators in front of the JR Kyoto Station central exit and head to B1F and head to JR Kyoto Station underground central exit on the left, the luggage holding service is on the right.
