"Nakauji yorin," a fashionable and cute new destination with a delightful contrast between the machiya-style exterior and modern interior, opened within walking distance of Uji Station on the Keihan and JR lines on November 20. It houses a variety of businesses, including a pastry shop focusing on tarts, a French bistro serving mainly meat dishes, a hair salon and rental space, and is expected to be a fun place to go to when visiting Uji.

"witte de with" is a French bistro with a meat-centric menu and a wide selection of wines at 500 JPY a glass, where you can enjoy authentic French food made with carefully selected ingredients. Its casual atmosphere is a draw too.

The bistro offers meat dishes centering on lamb roast (photographed), beef, pork and duck starting at 1,300 JPY, as well as a wide selection of wines.

"hohoemika" is a pastry shop offering an array of sweets at 400 JPY to 450 JPY, focusing on tarts, including those with fresh matcha-flavored chocolate and seasonal fresh fruits. Their tarts, such as the kiwi fromage tarte at 420 JPY (right), are perfect to take home!

Muguet, distinguished by its cute interior with walls of white tiles made by the owner, is a relaxing hair salon you'll want to stay in forever.

The 45-square meter rental space "yoriai" in the back of the second floor can be used for a variety of purposes, such as for meetings, art exhibits, and parties. [This article was originally published in Walkerplus on 12.06.2016]
