A Gift from the Ryugu Stuffed in a Paulownia Box
The Chasen Tamatebako Sweets from Yakigama Omatcha Sweets Senmonten Chasen is a treasure box of sweets that creates a puff of smoke when you open it, epitomizing the world of dreams that you read in old tales that is now capturing the hearts of women. When the smoke clears, what you will see in front of you is an assortment of fine matcha (green tea powder) sweets that are beautifully arranged in a box that looks just like a hassun (tray) that is used in kyo-kaiseki (Kyoto-style traditional multi-course meal). Using Uji matcha (matcha from Uji) from Yoshida Meichaen that was served to world leaders at the Ise-Shima Summit in 2016, this delicacy is characterized by its elegant taste that will remain in your memory forever.
This is the Chasen Tamatebako Sweets (1,404 JPY) that will let you taste some of the representative sweets of Chasen all at once, including tiramisu, truffle and mini parfait. Every bite of these confectioneries will fill your mouth with the refined taste of matcha. The Kyoto vibe also shines in the custom-made box made from paulownia wood and the Katchu-himo (a kind of strap used to bind Japanese armor) around the box.
