Top 2 Healthy & Fancy Lunches: Restaurant By the Sea or Cocotte Dishes
The first restaurant that locals love is Umizoi no Kikori Shokudo (Zaimokuza, Kamakura City), which just opened in April of this year. Inside this restaurant that is filled with a resort ambiance created by driftwood art, you can enjoy charcoal-grilled or smoked dishes. It has an extensive lineup of set meals and rice bowls that use local ingredients, such as Kamakura vegetables, Misaki tuna, and Shonan shirasu (young sardines). It is quite fun not being able to decide what to order! Try their unique desserts as well, which includes the Baumkuchen that is cooked over coal.

Another candidate for a great lunch is Bistro Ampersand (Omachi, Kamakura City). Here, you can casually dine on cocotte (French small-pot dishes) that use Kamakura vegetables and other seasonal ingredients. The lunch meal that will let you choose your appetizer, main dish, and dessert starts at 3,024 JPY. This shop is a place where you can enjoy pleasant hospitality that is sure to warm your heart and body.

Shopping for Souvenirs at General Stores & Low-GI Confectionery Shops by the Coast
Once you’re full, it’s time for some fun shopping! Head on over to ANDT KAMAKURA (Zaimokuza, Kamakura City) – a shop for decorative plants and miscellaneous goods that has Hawaiian luxury as its theme – and try to find something you like. They have many handmade plant hangers and other products that will give you decorating style ideas. The earrings sourced from Hawaii might be the perfect gift for a dear friend!

If you’re buying sweets as souvenirs, check out AaH bit (Zaimokuza, Kamakura City) – a confectionery shop that specializes in Western-style sweets that do not use white sugar, wheat, or additives. Instead of sugar, the sweets here use apple honey. It is low in the glycemic index (GI), so it won’t make your blood sugar rise. They have a collection of sweets that are both delicious and good for your body, making this shop incredibly popular with even athletes!
