Walk a Beginner’s Level Trail Hugely Popular in Kamakura
In Kamakura, trails that allow you to casually enjoy nature, are popular. The Kuzuharaoka-Daibutsu trail, which is about 3km long, takes about an hour and a half to Kotoku-in Temple with the Great Buddha if you start from Kita-Kamakura Station. Take your time and enjoy walking the hills with stops at major tourist sites along the way.
Start at Kita-Kamakura Station!
Start at Kita-Kamakura Station, one station to the north of Kamakura Station. Comfortable clothes and sneakers are a must. Walk up a road at the side of Jochiji Temple to the trailhead - and you're off!
Walk the Verdant Mt. Genji
Beyond the trailhead, you'll find Mt. Genji, a nature-rich area where you can hear beautiful bird songs .
To a Matchmaking Power Spot
Kuzuharaoka Shrine is famous as a shrine for matchmaking. Make an offering of a matchmaking ema plaque (500 JPY) to wish for a great match.
Arrive at Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine
Stop by at Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine, popular as a shrine to improve your financial prospects. The water of a spring in its cave is said to be able to multiply the money washed in it! Its specialty sweet mochi balls on a skewer, Shichifuku Tokusei Kushidango, are 300 JPY for two. Enjoy their comforting, gentle sweetness.
Pay Your Respects to the Great Buddha, and You've Reached Your Goal!
The goal is Kotoku-in Temple. Be amazed by the 13.35m high Kamakura Daibutsu (Great Buddha of Kamakura). Don't forget to purchase cute amulets as souvenirs.
