Five Select Restaurants in Yokohama Serving Fabulous Lunches for Less than 1,000 JPY

There are a lot places to have gourmet food in Yokohama. For lunch, you'll want to go to a place you can eat casually without breaking the bank! Here are five places with great cost performance where you can have lunch for less than 1,000 JPY.

1. Garden Farm Yokohama Ekimae Branch

The recommended lunch here is the Awajishima Curry (680 JPY (incl. tax)), which has been taken up by the mass media in Japan. It is a deluxe curry with one whole onion from Awajishima in it. Try this dish that is spicy yet rich and sweet. The restaurant has a wide selection of items including a Karaage Teishoku (680 JPY (incl. tax)), a set featuring chicken karaage (a dish in which ingredients are sprinkled with flour and deep fried) and Fuwatoro Omurice (980 JPY (incl. tax)), a dish of fried rice wrapped in an omelet that is served with a rich demi glace sauce.

2. Frenchna Yokohama Bay Quarter Branch

Frenchna Yokohama Bay Quarter Branch has a reasonably-priced lunch menu of casual French cuisine. For example, an authentic French dish of roasted spiced thigh meat or grilled shoulder roast with rice or bread starts at just 980 JPY (incl. tax)! There is also a croque madame set with soup and salad (900 JPY (incl. tax)), which is perfect for a light lunch. You can also order alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine and sangria for an additional 300 JPY (incl. tax).

3. Shisen-Chubo Yokohama Nishiguchi Branch

The lunch sets (690 JPY (incl. tax)) at Shisen-Chubo are great value as they are cheap and voluminous! The recommended item is the specialty meat gyoza dumplings. They are all handmade, including the wrappers and the filling, and are full of the juices from the meat. There are other dishes available at lunch time, such as the mapo tofu with the flavors of chili peppers and Japanese sansho peppers that are addictive, and the Sichuan specialty, Simmered Sichuan Beef, that is spicy and full of the umami flavors of beef and vegetables. A free drink bar is open for lunchtime customers.

4. Trattoria LOGIC

LOGIC is a place where you can enjoy authentic oven-baked Neapolitan pizza. The Pizza Set available for weekday lunch is just 980 JPY (incl. tax) with salad and a drinks bar. The crust is made with Caputo flour from Naples, so it has a chewy texture! Each pizza is handmade by a chef who won the grand prize in the foreigners division of the Caputo Cup Pizza Competition in Naples.

This restaurant has a lunch menu with a wide variety of options. For example, teishoku sets include the Weekly kawara Wa-Teishoku (980 JPY (incl. tax)), the Daily Teishoku (800 JPY (inc. tax)), Teishoku of Flavored Karaage of Chicken Thigh & Tororo with Special Dashi (900 JPY (inc. tax)) and Spicy Taco Rice with Soft-Boiled Egg (880 JPY (inc. tax)). All teishoku sets come with bottomless rice and miso soup. There are also other dishes such as Loco Moco with Fried Egg and Homemade BBQ Sauce (950 JPY (incl. tax)) and kawara's Homemade Honey Butter Chicken Curry (880 JPY (incl. tax)).
