Revel in Tokachi’s Great Outdoors! 3 Noteworthy and Veteran Hot Springs in Tokachi
New facilities in the onsen (hot spring), which can also be called “bijin no yu” (beautifying hot spring), have debuted in Tokachigawa Onsen! One is a spa that has been attracting a lot of attention as a place where couples and families can enjoy since all guests are required to wear swimsuits. And together with a special hot spring that is promoted by its owner and a hot spring that offers splendid scenery, here are the three most recommended hot spring facilities in the Tokachi area.
Garden Spa Tokachigawa Onsen
Opened on December 8, 2016, Garden Spa Tokachigawa Onsen is a spa where guests are treated to a very effective botanical mall onsen, but swimsuits are required. It is a new place that will let you spend a luxurious time because aside from the spa, it also features spaces where you can savor the dishes of Tokachi, workshops where you can experience making ham and cheese, and a Marche that sells local agricultural produce and processed food!
A night spa is held here every Friday, but only five groups per day are allowed inside to enjoy the stillness of the night. Held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, this spa is by advance reservation only and costs 7,000 JPY (comes with free drinks, snacks and desserts). So, how about spending some private, adult time here? There’s also a recommended Italian restaurant inside this facility.
At the Table Veggie restaurant inside this facility, you can relish authentic Italian dishes such as pizzas and pastas that use ingredients produced in Tokachi!
Nukabira Gensenkyo Nakamuraya
Nakamuraya, which has been renovated by its owner, is an inn that has been gaining popularity for its rooms and hot spring facilities that boast of a unique feeling of warmth, and its healthy dishes that do not use chemical seasonings. Its hot springs consist of two indoor baths and a unisex open-air bath (which is exclusively used by women at 8:30 – 10:00 pm). This inn is also famous as a lodging spot that guests want to visit again thanks to the appeal of such details as a hibachi (brazier) in the retro-inspired lobby where you can bake scones and oyaki (flat baked bun with stuffing inside), and an open-air bath where you can gaze at the stars while soaking.
Shikaribetsu Kohan Onsen Hotel Fusui
Hotel Fusui is a hot spring hotel that is located in Shikaribetsuko (Lake Shikaribetsu), a natural lake found at the highest point in Hokkaido that is surrounded by the Daisetsuzan National Park and Higashi Daisetsuzan. Here, the highly regarded bluish, iron-filled hot spring source turns dark brown when touched by air and then creates small air bubbles that will cover your skin to make it smoother. The view from the open-air bath is truly impressive, including the sight of Mt. Tenbo and Mt. Hakuun, the mountains at the back of the lake that are lovingly called the “kuchibiru yama” (lips mountains), getting reflected on the surface of the lake. How about letting the highly potent hot spring and glorious scenery soothe you?
Enjoy the vast nature of Tokachi to the fullest at these new spa facilities through the hot springs, dishes and views!
