1. Katsukani no Hanasaki
What is distinctive about this restaurant is definitely the live performance of cutting up a crab! They offer a wild service where staff cut up a live crab and cook it in front of customers, then provide it to them. Of course the crabs are super fresh! It sure will make you want to drink some of the sake carefully selected and lined up in the restaurant. You can enjoy the full course of king crab with the seasonal course (21,800 JPY (excl. tax)) which lets you add sea urchin and abalone at additional costs as well. It is highly recommended. This is a great restaurant for those who want to enjoy both crabs and shabu shabu.
3. Kaiyotei Susukino Main Branch
This restaurant's amazingly fresh crab dishes are made by offering crabs caught at the seashore and cooking them right after receiving them. They are so particular about the freshness of the crabs that if the catch is bad they will not serve them. One of their famous dishes is the crab cream croquette (960 JPY for 3 pieces (incl. tax)). The white sauce made with abundant flour and Hokkaido milk is great enough, but on top of that they stuff about half of a croquette with crab! You can enjoy fresh and plump crabs to your heart's content.
Oga is a restaurant providing local dishes in a homey Japanese atmosphere. Their recommended crab dish is large grilled raw king crab (5,800 JPY (excl. tax))! They offer the legs of a gigantic king crab weighing more than 4kg on a plate! Everyone will be happy and surprised at its amazing size if you order this for a party. Also, what is great about the restaurant is that they offer private and party rooms but also seats at the counter as well. Please enjoy the fully atmosphere of the small koryoriya-style Japanese restaurant with plenty of crab dishes.
5. Kita no Gourmet Tei
Kita no Gourmet Tei is within Kita no Gourmet, a seafood market in Hokkaido. The reasonable price range which is characteristic of a restaurant attached to the market sets this place apart from other restaurants! There are many wallet-friendly menus considering its volume, freshness and quality, such as the live hair crab boiled in an iron pot (starting at 2,780 JPY (incl. tax)) and crab soup (280 JPY (incl. tax)). The restaurant is equipped with an elevator as well as a wheelchair accessible restroom, so anyone can visit without worry!
